Heli-Yacht International offers pilots and yacht crews marine aviation related training courses. It is important to  have not just a highly skilled and qualified pilot but also well trained crew to safely handle a helicopter onboard a yacht. We believe that a well trained crew and a good understanding of duties are important in order to develop a smooth working environment between yacht and aviation crews.

Our goal is to make sure that all aspects of a heli-yacht operation are well understood and carried out safely. These training courses will have you and your staff feeling confident that all safety precautions are taken and that the crew is well trained.

 Helicopter Landing Officer (H.L.O.)
We make sure your designated helicopter landing officers (HLO) and assistants (HLA) are comfortable with the radio communications and hand signals used in guiding a helicopter to the heli-deck with ease.

Fire Prevention Course
If your crew is training for the HLO course, this course is offered as a co-requisite. It can also be a stand-alone course for just fire prevention training.  All of your crew members will go through a fire safety training course. This is essential to make sure everybody on board is aware of the procedures for any type of fire related emergency. It is fundamental for everyone to participate in this course.

Heli-Yacht Operations Course (HYO)
This, our signature training course, incorporates the most important aspects of a heli-yacht operations, including helicopter launch and landing procedures, dynamics of flight and yacht crew, and helicopter securing procedures. The course is customized to the specifics of the vessel and aircraft, and it can be administered on location, aboard the yacht. It supplements the HLO course as it explores the issues of crew dynamics, and understanding of pilot requirements.

Water Survival Course
Your crew will go through the water survival course, which includes rescue and emergency procedures for in water situations. We consider that it is just as important for the yacht crew to go through helicopter “Dunker Tank” training (see images) as it is for the aircrew. Many times the yacht crew will be embarked with guests aboard the aircraft for various activities, and in the unlikely event of a water emergency, there will be well trained personnel aboard to help assist with the passengers.

Pilot Training
We train pilots to safely land aboard yachts. We have highly qualified pilots with extensive combined experience in Eurocopter EC135, EC155, Sikorsky S76, Augusta and Bell aircrafts. If you need IFR recurrence or a Bi-Annual flight review, give us a call.
